TEEN COURSE INFORMATION
Our Teen Driver Education Program is approved by the Secretary of State. The program requires the student to take a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction and one of the following in-car options; 1) six(6) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and six(6) hours of in-car observation; or 2) eight (8) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and NO observation.

The course teaches the students the basic maneuvers required to operate a motor vehicle safely and proficiently. Areas of focus include defensive driving strategies, speed management, parking, right-of-ways, freeway driving, analyzing traffic situations, and the legal and financial responsibilities of driving.
 
REGISTRATION:

Students may register by mail or in person at our office located at 4957 W. 95th Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.  (Office Hours) Students may also register by calling our office at (708) 423-1212, or visiting our website at www.scadutodrivingschool.com.  There are limited seats available in each class.  If you are interested in this program, please call ahead to reserve a seat. A payment of $100 is due on the first night of class. If you pay for the teen course in full on the first night, you save $10.00. Final payment is due by the last night of class.

 
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
To enroll in a drivers’ education program, a student must meet the following requirements:
 
 JR/High School Students (need one of the following):
 Driver Education Approval Form -
Form prepared by the Secretary of State stating the student has received a passing grade in at least 8 courses during the previous 2 semesters.
High School Report Card -
Copy of student’s report card or transcript for the previous 2 semesters indicating a passing grade in at least 8 courses during the previous 2 semesters.
Driver Education Waiver Form -
Signed by the superintendent or school administrator on a form prepared by the Secretary of State.
 
 Home Schooled Students:
 Home School Parental Consent Form -
Form prepared by the Secretary of State stating the student is enrolled in a home school.
 
 High School Dropout (Living in Cook County):
 Written Documentation verifying the dropout’s enrollment in GED or an alternative education program or obtain a copy of the dropout’s GED certificate;

Written verification that the student prior to dropping our had received a passing grade in at least 8 courses during the 2 previous semesters;

Written Consent on a form approved by the Secretary of State from the dropout’s parents or guardian and the regional superintendent.
 
TUITION:
Program A –

$395.00 - Complete Teen Course (Classroom and 6 hrs Behind-the-wheel/6 hours Observation)
 

Program B – $465.00 - Complete Teen Course (Classroom and 8 hours Behind-the-wheel/ No Observation)
 
Program C – $405.00 – Behind-the-Wheel Only (8 hours BTW)
 
Program D –$335.00 - Behind-the-Wheel Only (6 hours BTW)
 
Program E –$225.00 – Classroom Only
 
CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION:
The student attends classroom (4) four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays) for four (4) weeks. Classroom instruction will be given in 15, two-hour sessions. Classroom times are listed under Class Schedules.
 
Materials:Students should bring a black or blue pen with them each night. Books provided in the classroom are for classroom use only. Each student will be given an Illinois Rules of the Road.
 
Absences:Students are required to sign in at the beginning of each class and be on time. Each student is allowed a maximum of four (4) absences before being dropped from the course and any missed classroom time must be made up to pass the course.
Students are REQUIRED to turn in all work for any absences. It is the students responsibility to schedule make up classes with the office.
 
INSTRUCTION PERMIT:
Students may obtain a permit once they are 15 years of age, have enrolled in a drivers’ education program and completed four hours of classroom instruction. Students will be prepared in class for their permit test, and will need to go the the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to take their permit test. The student will receive two parts to the permit, and the EXAM RECEIPT is not valid for driving purposes. Forms and Identification needed for obtaining a permit are listed below:
 
-Proof of Name and Date of Birth – Certified copy of birth certificate or valid
passport. (Hospital birth certificates or photocopies will not be accepted)
 
-Proof of Residency – School ID, transcript, bank statement or parent’s driver’s license.
 
-Proof of Enrollment in Drivers Education Class (Permit Application Form – proved by Len Scaduto Driving School, Inc.
 
-$20 fee (payable to the DMV)
 
SCHEDULE DRIVING:
Students may be scheduled for a behind-the-wheel lesson after they attend a minimum of 4 hours of classroom instruction and obtain an instruction permit from the Secretary of State. Once they receive their permit, they schedule their lessons with our office.
Unlike other driving schools, we offer FREE home pick-up and drop-off services for your lessons (within selected areas). We have instructors available for lessons 7 days per week, 7:00a.m – 9:00p.m.

We have dedicated driving instructors who average 10-12 years of experience. All of our instructors have college degrees in education. Our professional instructors are very patient and have been through extensive training for teaching adult and teenage driver education – in the classroom or behind-the-wheel.

Note: All students must have their Instruction permit in-hand in order to take their driving lesson. If the permit is not in-hand, the lesson will be treated as a cancellation and the student will be charged the full cancellation fee.
 
CANCELLING BTW APPOINTMENTS:

All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled drive time.  Failure to give at least 24 hours notice of cancellations will result in a $25.00 cancellation fee.

 
50 HOUR REQUIREMENT:

Students who received their permit on or after June 22, 2006, are required, by state law, to log 50 behind-the-wheel hours with a parent/legal guardian.

 
BLUE SLIP:

Your Blue Slip will be processed once the following requirements are met:
 

- All classroom instruction is completed, including all make-up work, final exam. (If your classroom was completed at another school, we would need documentation w/date completed, letter grade and signature of school official.)
 
- Tuition is paid in full.
 
- All behind-the-wheel and observation time is completed. (If your behind-the-wheel was completed at another school, we would need documentation w/date completed, letter grade and signature of school official)
 
- Once the above requirements are met, please allow two weeks for the blue slip request to be processed by the Secretary of State.
 
DRIVER’S LICENSE:

When obtaining a license, a student must have the following items:
 

- Letter from the Secretary of State stating completion of a valid driver’s education program. (Certification of Completion)
 
- Instruction Permit
 
- 50 Hour Log Sheet with parent/guardian signature
 
- Proof of Name and Date of Birth - Automobile Insurance Card
 
- Proof of Residency – Automobile Registration
 
- Signed Social Security Card
